Usage¶
Warning
Designed for PERSONAL USE ONLY
sxm is a 100% unofficial project and you use it at your own risk. It is designed to be used for personal use with a small number of users listening to it at once. Similar to playing music over a speakers from the radio directly. Using sxm in any corporate setting, to attempt to priate music, or to try to make a profit off your subscription may result in you getting in legal trouble.
Command Line Interface¶
Help¶
Everything is outlined via command line via the –help option:
$ sxm --help
HTTP Proxy Server¶
Create HTTP proxy server to serve HLS streams for SXM channels:
$ sxm --username myuser --password mypassword
This will start a HTTP server that a player that supports HLS (QuickTime, VLC, ffmpeg, etc) you can access a SXM channel at http://127.0.0.1:9999/channel.m3u8 where “channel” is the channel name, ID, or Sirius channel number.
Username and password arguments are optional, if you leave one off, you will be prompted:
$ sxm --username myuser
Username and password can also be passed via the SXM_USERNAME and SXM_PASSWORD environment variables.
$ export SXM_USERNAME='myuser'
$ export SXM_PASSWORD='mypassword'
$ sxm
If you are a SXM subscriber in Canada, you will need to change your region to CA
$ sxm -r CA
By default the HTTP server serves on http://127.0.0.1:9999, you can change this:
$ sxm -p 8000 -h 0.0.0.0
Testing¶
Simple command to test proxy to verify it is working using ffmpeg:
$ sxm
$ ffmpeg -y -i http://127.0.0.1:9999/octane.m3u8 -f mp2 output.mp3
output.mp3 should be a valid mp3 file with output from the stream.
SXM Channels¶
You can list all of the avaible SXM channels for your account as well:
$ sxm -l

HTTP Proxy Server¶
You create your own HTTP proxy server as well:
